The Sermon on the Mount

Jesus talks about many things during His Sermon on the Mount, one of them is giving to the needy.  I am going to be covering the passage Matthew 6:1-4 which is talking about how one should go about giving to the needy.  Two main points I see in this in this passage is that we should do for God and not for others to see and also that it is expected.  The first point is that it is to be done before God and not for men.  This passage says that it is to be done in such secret that not even your right hand knows what your left is doing.  The second point is that it is expected that we give to the needy.  This passage does not say if you give to the needy do it this way but rather it says "when you give to the needy..."  One practical way to apply this section is by going and participating on Tuesday nights, but if you aren't able to make it to these you can give to the needy by donating clothes to the clothes van, money in baby bottle boomerangs, and many other ways.  There is so many opportunities for giving that we should have no probable finding somewhere to give its just a matter of doing it.
